The other morning I woke up and found myself in a creative mode. So I sat down in front of my computer and opened up Microsoft Office 2007 to see what I could come up with. I recently looked at a menagerie I created for a handout for work and decided to change it up and made an entirely new creation. Everything other than the SmartArt you see in the graphic art is original work using Microsoft Office 2007 although I had to enhance the SmartArt as when you insert it into your document, it is that basic generic, no-frills added blue. I didn't even use Photoshop in this one. Not one time. I think Photoshop would have given the design some extra flair, but I'm going to have to get used to not using it since once my computer goes down, I will not be able to activate it again since Adobe has retired CS3 and will not allow you to use it even with the huge cost of the application. Anyway, I'm not going to be beaten down by it. This graphic which I call "1LGs_Birthday" was all done in MO Office.
Even though you can draw these shapes, I decided to use SmartArt for the words. One of the advantages of using SmartArt is there are options to give you different looks quickly whereas if you drew the shapes using MO's shapes tool, you would have to work with the filters until you came up with the look you wanted.
The balloons and oval I drew using the shapes tool and then enhanced them with the photo-editing tools in MO07. If you are interested in making such a design, I've given some basic directions and if you have any questions about it, feel free to ask.
The final design does not have all of the copyright stuff all over it like this one does, but being that this is the web, it is what it is.
